'Anthony Waterer' is a deciduous spirea with an upright, vase-shaped habit that grows about 3 to 5 feet tall and wide. New spring foliage is reddish purple, matures to a lush green, and turns yellow in the fall. Flat-topped clusters of rosy-pink flowers appear June thru August. Well suited to a shrub or foundation border, or as a hedge. Attracts bees and butterflies.

Royal Purple Smoke Tree is a large deciduous shrub or small tree with handsome, oval purple leaves all summer which turn scarlet in the fall. The flowers are yellowish and not very showy, but they are followed by clouds of pinkish-purple seed heads from mid summer into fall. This striking shrub prefers full sun and low amount of watering once it's established. This shrub grows 10 to 15 feet tall and wide. A lovely shrub for massing or as an accent.

This group of shrubs grows from 2 to 4 feet tall and up to 4 feet wide. All have a mounded form, with gray green to pale green leaves. Flowers appear in mid to late summer, and appear in a range of blue hues, depending on variety. Flowers are clusters of tiny flowers and mostly form and the tips of branches, so cutting the shrubs back hard in the late winter as new growth emerges makes for more flowers.

'Blue Spire' is a selection of perovskia that grows about 3 to 4 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide (though it will grow larger if over-watered). Flower spires of fuzzy, lavender blue flowers begin in June and continue through the summer months. Useful in the perennial or shrub border, with ornamental grasses, and as a cut flower.

Nepeta is a fierce little perennial, growing in poor sooils and sunny, hot conditions with never a whimper. Though different nepeta vary is size and flower color, as a general rule, all are mounded and densely leaved, with heavily crinkled, aromatic, grey-green, slightly fuzzy foliage. Flowers are like all flowers in the mint family, though on nepeta the stems tend to be shorter and the flowers closer to the foliage. Usually blue to violet, blooming late spring and sometimes again in the fall. A great addition to a sunny garden or parkstrip. Many cultivars available.

Colorado Spruce is an upright to pyramidal evergreen tree with a dense form and horizontal branches. It grows slowly, 60 to 80 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide.
